National Park Week starts now
Posted by Cecilia under: Nature .
Nobody denies the importance of our National Parks in protecting nature for us and our children. Even those of us who live downtown in a city are always connected to nature. We all feel in us the urge to experience nature as it is.
National Park Week starts today and offers nature walks in hundreds of park units. At the same time the National Park Service announced its new program, the National Park Centennial Initiative with the goal of preparing the National Parks for the future. From now until 2016, the 100 year anniversary of the park service, they will spend about $2 billion dollars on park improvements.
The first parks which profit from this new funding program are Zion and Cedar Breaks, two Utah parks.
Zion National Park will use some of the money to hire a ranger to organize next years centennial celebration of the park. Cedar Breaks National Park will apply the money to a program called “Partners in the Park” which brings college honor students to the park for trips and to experience nature.
The winter is over and the warm season starts, let’s enjoy our beautiful nature!
